Tom Scott Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The chest has five full width drawers so offers great storage but without any sacrifice on style! The drawers all have their locks too, and being typical of French commodes the key is used to open all the drawers, used as a drawer pull.

There is a top “frieze” drawer just under the marble, three below and also another hidden drawer in the plinth too. All open smoothly and are solid oak lined.
Wonderful colour and grain to the book matched figured walnut veneers and do see how the veneers run for each drawer and into the chest frame itself, so this is a very well made piece of furniture. Super decorative if you are looking to place this as a feature piece in a living room or as a bedroom storage piece.
