Antique silver Waltham full hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a 7-jewel Traveler grade stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 12,171,566 which dates it back to 1903. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the three covers for Birmingham 1914, with a maker’ mark for the Birmingham case maker Aaron Dennison. Dennisons supplied most of the cases for Waltham UK.

The date of the case is quite a bit later than the movement. This could have been Dennisons casing older Waltham stocks, or a whole movement being replaced as a more economical alternative.

The case is in good condition for such an early piece. Originally there would have been engine turned detail to the front and back of the watch but, over the years, this has worn down. There is a vacant cartouche to the front. The back of the watch has some fairly gentle unevenness and light surface marking.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover.

Inside, there is a glass lens which is in good condition… there is some reflection showing in the photos, but that’s all it is.

The signed dial has two short cracks between 7 and 8, and two even shorter hairlines beneath the subsidiary seconds dial. Blued steel hands, a sunken subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
