Gents WW1 silver trench watch, 1915.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement was probably made by the ebauche (blank movement) manufacturer Adoph Schild.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for London (import mark), 1915 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell.

From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The case has some unevenness to the back but otherwise is in good condition.

The glass lens has light marking but you have to look very closely to see it.

The dial is in good condition. Originally it would have had painted detail to the numbers and the hands but this has been removed over the years, probably due to the radium content.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
