Carse Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The chest has always had fret handles as you can see a slight shadow of where the original ones where. The chest stands on original bold shape ogee bracket feet. The chest has an oak brushing slide to the top with original large brass axe head handle pulls. Being so small in width it is still quite deep so there is still plenty of storage space. The chest has been sympathetically re-polished but otherwise is in pretty good condition for its age, there are a couple of minor old repairs to the feet.
