Antique Thomas Russell full hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a 15-jewel Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Thomas Russell & Son, a well respected business having achieved a Royal Warrant as watch and clock makers to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. In 1881 the company started importing movements from Switzerland, such as the one we have in this particular watch. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has scratching from where it has been opened in the past.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and is the Thomas Russell model made by the Illinois Watch Case Company. The case is nicely detailed around the sides and also the perimeter of the outer covers. There is an indentation on the front and back but quite shallow.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is a glass lens which is in lovely condition. The signed dial has a faint hairline crack over number 10 but not immediately obvious to the naked eye.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
