This is a wonderful large 19thC oil on canvas, portrait of a gentleman, quite possibly John Peel. He is rather nicely dressed wearing a top hat, dark coat, spotted neckerchief and waistcoat. It is signed G Smith and dated May ‘59.
The frame is original with minor losses to bottom left gesso. (Please examine photos carefully, more can be provided on request). Overall a lovely country portrait in good original condition.
