Gents 9ct gold Roamer Premier wrist watch, 1953.

The watch has a Swiss 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. In the photo, you will see two empty screw holes. These are usually for retaining screws but, in this instance, the screws are not required because the movement is retained by the fitted case back.

The watch measures 26mm high excluding the handsomely shaped lugs and 25mm wide excluding the winding crown. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1953, together with a mark for the Birmingham based case maker Aaron Dennison, supplier of cases to many different watch makers. The case has light surface marks but overall the condition is good for a 1950s piece.

The lens has a few light short scratches, difficult to see with the naked eye.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, a sunken subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a Roamer presentation box. The new strap is longer than the original would have been so it doesn’t all sit flat as it would have originally. The one length of strap has to be folded under the other so it sits in the box.
