Description

For sale, this fine Smiths Deluxe 17 jewel A454 Antarctic version dating 1956/57. The A454 formed part of the Everest range but this version was used on the 1955 Antarctic expedition. Fine original signed bright dial looking slightly yellow under its original yellowed crystal. Original deep blued handset with its correct characteristic red centre sweep hand. The hand set still retain most of their original luminous paint. The screw down waterproof case is in exceptionally fine original condition showing little wear and no noticeable loss of case plate. Fully signed gilt movement in full working order keeping excellent time. Original winding crown showing some loss of original plate.

Fitted on a new period pig skin 16mm leather strap.
