French Louis Philippe Figured Walnut Commode

Description

Elegant 19th century Louis Philippe walnut commode with a grey marble top and a very attractive figured grain. It is a traditional piece with simple lines, standing on plain feet. There are 5 drawers, the lowest being a ‘secret’ hidden one in the base. Keys are present for the replaced locks in the top 4 drawers, which all have attractive figured escutcheons. The grey marble top has white veining and has a nice tactile groove around the edge.

This commode could be used in a bedroom for clothing storage, or as a set of drawers for any living or large entry space, giving a good marble display surface for vases and art objects.

The piece is in a recently restored condition, with some minor signs of age related wear.

Originates from France.

Dated as circa 1860.

Made from Walnut and Marble.
