Description

Gents antique silver wrist watch, 1913.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement, identified as by Adolf Schild, calibre 137, which is working nicely.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London 1913 together with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell.

From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The front of the case is in good condition while the hinged case back has unevenness.

The glass lens has some faint lines across it, barely noticeable to the naked eye, but they appear to be a manufacturing fault rather than damage.

The dial has three hairline cracks radiating from the centre but they are quite faint.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
