French Empire Oak Commode with Black Handles

19th century
Description

Lovely small size French oak provincial Empire four drawer commode with original brass collars and ebonised handles, standing on raised block feet, circa 1800.

The chest has a 3/4 moulded gallery to the top surface and is a two plank top which has some wonderful age and use marks, all well below the polish so I have left them, but if you would rather it be stripped and re polished, please get in touch.

Good consistent colour throughout the chest and with the brass collars to the turned pillars and the black handles, gives a great contrast to those details.

Four full width drawers so gives lots of good storage, all drawers running smoothly.

Measuring:

35 inches or 89 cm high

38 1/4 inches or 97 cm wide

2 1/4 inches of 51.5 cm deep
