Here we have a very rare French Chestnut dresser in its wonderful and original paint c1780. As you can see the dresser has outstanding colour and patina. Over the last three months the dresser has been with an expert paint conservator who has stabilised the paint for the next generation of its life. The fact that the paint has survived is quite remarkable and we are very honoured to have this in our stock. The top has a naive marble effect finish. There is a thumb moulded edge and a frieze below with single middle drawer. The drawers have scroll work work decoration in pastel green and terracotta on an off white almost light grey ground. This decoration continues around the beautifully shaped panelled doors. Both doors have stunning naive pastoral scenes with rich cobalt blue as the foremost colour.
