Waltham Bartlett full hunter pocket watch, 1918.

The watch has a 17-jewel adjusted stem-winding movement, P S Bartlett grade, which is working nicely. The movement has beautifully patterned plates, a Church 1892 patent regulator and screw set jewels. The movement is fully signed and has the serial number 22,068,220 which dates it back to 1918.

The Bartlett grade was named after Patten Sargeant Bartlett who was one of the early employees of the Boston Watch Company which went on to become the Waltham Watch Company. He subsequently left Waltham to work for the National Watch Company at Elgin Illinois but eventually returned to Waltham to work as a salesman before opening his own wholesale business.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold filled Moon model from the Dennison Watch Case Company, the company supplied most of the cases for Waltham UK. The case is in good condition, just one fairly small “ding” to the front and general light surface marks, nothing too serious at all.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is a glass. There is a lot of sun reflection in the photos but the lens is in good condition.

The signed dial has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
