This is a wonderful 19thC portrait of a lady, oil on canvas in good overall original condition. It is in the original gilded wood frame and bears a plaque on which is written ‘Jane-Deveruex, wife of George Davenport, died 25th March 1840, aged 61 years. Her costume suggests it was painted slightly earlier. It is well executed, her face particularly is very pleasing.
