Gents 1960s Monvis Wrist Watch

Gents 1960s Monvis wrist watch.

The watch has a Swiss 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. There are two empty retaining screw holes within the movement. These screws are not required because this particular model has a retaining ring.

The watch measures 35mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The main body of the case is gold plated while the screw-on case back is stainless steel. There is a little rubbing and marking to the plate but not too detrimental. The case back states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.

The dial is signed with the name Monvis, a brand name registered in 1962 by Dux SA of Biel, Switzerland. The dial is also signed Incabloc, which relates to the shockproofing system, and the name Ferrotex which we believe to be a system for providing anti-magnetic protection. Original dauphine hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There is a slight indentation to the dial, and a little marking.

A later ostrich leather strap has been fitted.
