Fine Timber Small Georgian Mahogany Chest

Description

Superb small size 18th century George 3rd mahogany chest of drawers. Made from wonderful grained mahogany throughout which is a most gorgeous original colour. Two over three drawer configuration. The drawers with cock beaded edges, original iron locks and very nice original shaped brass swan neck handles. The drawers are oak lined with pine bottoms. The chest stands on its original nicely shaped bracket feet. The top has a wide crossbanding in dark Cuban mahogany with boxwood line stringing. The top also has a cross grain ogee moulded edge which is a nice feature. The chest is in very good condition except for a slightly wavy top with a fine hairline crack which is hardly visible. The chest is the most gorgeous colour with original patination and a waxed finish. Just a really pleasing example of this popular design piece of 18th century carcass furniture. As good today as the day it was made. Drawer runners have been renewed so all drawers run smoothly.
