Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The chest is ‘caddy’ moulded to the finely figured solid mahogany top which sits over two short and three long oak-lined graduating drawers, each is cock-beaded and bears its original detailed swan-neck gilded handles, with star backplates, brass inset escutcheons and locks. The chest is raised on its original solid mahogany bracket feet.
It should be noted that the chest is of superb colour and richly patinated. Complete with working key.
