Antique Criterion full hunter pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Criterion, a brand name registered by various watch makers and importers but this one is believed to be from Achille Hirsch of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, who registered the name in 1897. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold plated Star model from the Dennison Watch Case Company, a prolific English watch case manufacturer who produced cases for various watch makers. The case is in good condition, just a pin prick sized “ding” to the front, and some surface marking where the back has been opened in the past.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition.

The dial is in lovely condition and has blued steel hands (a little of the finish has come off over the years), a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a double rolled gold albert, with each chain measuring 19cm long including the T-bar and clasp.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
