Description

This is a fine quality 19th century French commode chest in super order with a lovely colour and wonderful figured marble top. The chest is beautifully inlaid throughout with flowers and garlands and has an attractive design to the Kingwood veneers. The piece is generously adorned with ormolu mounts and its original ormolu handles and Rococo style escutcheons. The chest has a superb bombe shape to the body and the quality of the piece is evident in nice features like the canted edges of the drawers. The marble top has a lovely colour and is in perfect condition.

A very nice example dating from around 1840.

Provenance : This chest originates from the residual contents of Vigo House County Durham
