The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Omega and the serial number 4,618,278 dates it back to around 1914.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is 900 silver and there are Continental hallmarks inside the case back together with the early Omega logo.

The watch has a semi-hermetic case which means that it does not have a conventional case back, the movement sits in a bowl shaped requisite. This was an early attempt at moisture proofing a watch. However, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.

The movement hinges out of the front of the case once the winding stem is pulled up, but it is quite difficult to do and we would recommend that it is not opened unless you are experienced in handling pocket watches.

The glass lens is in good condition.

Unusually, the dial has a handsome midnight blue finish. We have dealt with hundreds of watches over the years but this is only the third midnight blue dial Omega that we have seen. There is a subsidiary seconds dial, the tail end is a little out of shape.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
