Antique Syren half hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement, signed Syren, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has an inscription which reads, ‘Sir Robert Bidulf, Overbury, 1921’, possibly part of the family of Sir Richard Martin, 1st Baronet, of Overbury Court near Tewkesbury, whose wife was the daughter of John Biddulph of the banking firm of Cocks, Biddulph & Co.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and was made by the Dennison Watch Case Company, a Birmingham based manufacturer who supplied various watch makers with cases. It is in good condition, just a small patch of rubbing to the front and a couple of small minor bruises but nothing serious at all.

The front cover has a small central lens surrounded by enamel filled Roman numerals. The lens has some scuffing.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is a glass lens which is in lovely condition.

The dial is in lovely condition and has blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.

The watch comes in an antique presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
