Yolanda Gray Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The drawers are decorated with applied moulding in the shape of a wreath to the side of each drawer front, and moulded frieze handles to the underside. The drawers are mahogany lined and hand dovetailed. Between each drawer is a central applied rococo foliate & coquillage moulding. Below, the sideboard boasts square quarter columns to each corner, topped with foliate carved capitals. Between the columns sit a pair of flame mahogany inset panelled doors, boasting further rococo foliate & coquillage applied mouldings. The right-hand door retains its original working lock, with working key, while the left-hand door retains its original brass sliding bolt latches and a faux keyhole. Both doors display brass circular key escutcheons. The doors open to reveal a cupboard interior, divided vertically and horizontally into four sections. The chiffonier stands on a lovely protruding moulded plinth, terminating on its original steel and beech castors. The back of the sideboard retains its original pine backboards. This sideboard is a good example of the typical high-quality furniture, constructed during this period.

Condition Report:
Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and top but nothing significant considering the age of the item (please see photos). The sideboard has been cleaned and French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop. Therefore, the colour and patination of mahogany is of an excellent standard. The drawers and doors close flush to the frame; they are not warped and there are no splits to the door panels. The drawers are mahogany lined and feature hand-dovetail construction. The right-hand door retains its original working lock (with working key) and the left-hand door retains the original brass sliding bolt latches. Original brass circular key escutcheons to both doors. All applied mouldings are original, with no missing parts. The carcass is solid in joint with no loose movements and there is no missing veneer. The chiffonier stands on its original moulded plinth and even retains its original steel castors with beech castors. This item is solid in joint and is ready to be used.
