The sideboard boasts scroll shape carved corbels to the top corners of the left- and right-hand cupboards. Between the central cupboards, at the top, is a single, central drawer with an oval flame mahogany moulded panel front, and a moulded frieze handle along the bottom. The drawer is mahogany lined, with hand dovetail construction and boasts a quarter beaded interior (a sign of quality). Below, are four flame mahogany moulded arch panelled cupboards doors. The left-hand, centre-right and right-hand doors all retain their original working locks, with one key which operates the left-hand and right-hand doors, and another key which operates the centre-right door. The centre-left door retains its original brass sliding bolt latches. The doors open to reveal cupboards, with the left-hand cupboard comprising a single drawer, above two pull-out sliding trays. To the central cupboard is a single, central shelf. The right-hand cupboard includes a single drawer to the top, above a shelf, and a large locking drawer further below. The drawer retains its original working lock, with working key, as well as the original brass swan neck handle on circular backplates. The chiffonier stands on a lovely protruding chamfered plinth, with the back of the chiffonier retaining its original pine backboards. This sideboard is certainly an example of exhibition-quality piece, with a high standard of construction. This is a single piece item and does not dismantle.
