1925 Waltham Half Hunter Pocket Watch

1925 Waltham half hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a high grade 17-jewel stem-winding movement, P S Bartlett grade, which is working nicely. The movement has beautifully patterned plates, Breguet hairspring for enhanced precision, a Church 1892 patent regulator and screw set jewels. The movement is fully signed and has the serial number 25,179,502 which dates it back to 1925.

The Bartlett grade was named after Patten Sargeant Bartlett who was one of the early employees of the Boston Watch Company which went on to become the Waltham Watch Company. He subsequently left Waltham to work for the National Watch Company at Elgin Illinois but eventually returned to Waltham to work as a salesman before opening his own wholesale business.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some scratching where a tool appears to have slipped in the past.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold filled Moon model by the Dennison Watch Case Company. Dennisons supplied most of the cases for Waltham UK. The case is in lovely condition for such an early piece, just general light surface marks, nothing too serious at all.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition.

The signed dial is in lovely condition. Blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
