Description

A fantastic quality 18th Century Mahogany Secretaire Chest On Chest of outstanding colour and patina. Lined in solid Ceder wood throughout and veneered with fiddle back Mahogany. The cornice with bold Greek Key design, the freeze and canted corners with finely cut blind fret work. The interior fitted with drawers, shaped freeze and an inlaid central door flanked with split turned columns. The boldly shaped ogee feet are mostly original with repairs to the bottom section. The period handles with traces of the original gilding are probably not original to the piece although looking at the patina around them it is fair to say they have been fitted early in the life of the piece and most likely in the 18th Century.

It is wonderful piece of country house furniture that has been well cared for over the years and retains good original condition.
