Pair of Parquetry Marble Top Commodes

1900 - 1920
Description

A very decorative and well proportioned pair of Italian geometric parquetry marble top small commodes in tulipwood and with brass ormolu mounts, circa 1900 and in lovely original condition.

The size of this pair of cabinets will work as bedside cabinets, but also in a living room setting as sofa end lamp tables too. Their shape with the "bombe" sides and serpentine front help to slim the proportions down as these are approximately 1/3 larger than their typical French cousins of a similar style, so more practical too!

Three drawers to each cabinet and all three drawers running smoothly.

There is one handle that doesn't match the originals, so one must have been lost and a similar replacement. Other than than, the condition is very good and they have the most wonderful rich colour tone which contrasts so well with the original marble tops.

Priced as a pair.
