Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the 17th century and reaching peak popularity in the 18th century, the Welsh kitchen dresser was designed as a multifunctional piece of regional country furniture. It combined enclosed storage for food or household items in the lower cupboard with open tiered shelving above to display pewter, delftware, and fine porcelain.

Country dressers were typically constructed from solid native hardwoods such as oak, elm, or pine. Joints were crafted using traditional woodworking methods, including hand-cut dovetails and mortise-and-tenon joinery with wooden pegs.

Authentic 18th-century dressers often feature hand-planed backboards, irregular peg construction, hand-forged iron or early brass hardware, and natural wear patterns around handles and cupboard doors. Additionally, the wood will show historical age patina and slight shrinkage gaps standard for solid timber of that period.

An antique oak dresser creates a warm, grounded focal point in contemporary kitchens or dining rooms. Style the open shelves with a curated mix of modern white ceramics, vintage stoneware jars, and glass vesselware to soften the dark timber and bridge historical and modern aesthetics.

Preserve the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent the timber from warping or drying out.
