Antique Waltham Pocket Watch

Antique Waltham pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, grade 20, which is working nicely. The grade 20 came in seven and 13 jewel versions, this is the 13 and it has a Breguet hairspring for enhanced precision and screw set jewels. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 6,651,584 dates it back to between 1895 and 1902. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has some scratching where it has been opened in the past.

The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold filled and was made for Waltham by the Crescent Watch Case Company.

The Crescent Watch Case Company was started in Chicago in 1882. After a few years, the company moved to Brooklyn, New York and then on to Newark, New Jersey. In 1904, it merged with other case companies to become part of the Keystone Watch Case Company.

The case is in lovely condition.

The glass lens is in lovely condition.

The dial has a couple of faint hairline cracks although they are difficult to see with the naked eye. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
