Early 18th Century English Mahogany Chest on Chest

Description

Early 18th Century English mahogany chest on chest with brushing slide. The cornice has dentil moulding and chamfered corners above the upper chest, consisting of three short drawers and three graduated drawers below. The upper section has canted corners. In the middle is a brushing slide with small ring pull handles.

The bottom chest below has four graduated long drawers. Lovely original detailed brass escutcheons and handles throughout, including carrying handles to the sides of both bottom and top chest. Standing on original great shaped, bracket feet.

This chest on chest is one of the finest examples of mahogany chests available, certainly the best one we have seen and owned. Made with some of the finest cuts of mahogany veneers, and best oak timber used for the drawers.

This chest on chest has to be seen to be truly appreciated!
