Antique Waltham silver full hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a 15 jewel stem-winding movement, grade 620, which is working nicely. This is a good quality movement with Church 1892 patent regulator, patterned plates and Breguet hairspring. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 22,685,363 dates it back to 1919. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a few scratches where it has been opened in the past.

The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver is hallmarked for Birmingham 1939, so later than the movement. It has a maker’s mark for Aaron Dennison, the Birmingham based case maker who supplied Waltham UK with most of their cases. The case has gentle unevenness to the back and a few pin prick “dings” but overall is very acceptable for a 1930s piece. There is a slight gap around the front cover as shown in the photo.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition.

The signed dial has a couple of short faint hairlines underneath the subsidiary seconds dial, and a small chip to the edge by number 9 but it is mostly covered by the bezel. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
