Silver Art Deco wrist watch, 1918.

The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is by Record and is a later, although still a period, replacement.

The watch measures 25mm wide excluding the winding crown and 39mm high excluding the lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for London 1918, with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell.

From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

Overall, the case is in good condition especially for such an early piece, just some gentle unevenness to the case back.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed Tissot and it has blued steel hands. Light marking to the dial, not too detrimental.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
