Antique Syren full hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a good quality stem-winding movement, with snail cam regulator, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the name Syren, a brand name used by an importer of watches manufactured by Record and Revue (as the one we have here).

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover. This inner cover has a scratch across it where a tool has slipped in the past.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated. There is a small “ding” to the front cover and minor surface marks.

On closer inspection, we can see that the movement and the case are not original to each other. They are of the same period and the movement may have been changed as a more economical alternative to a repair.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in lovely condition.

The dial has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. There is a small 3mm chip to the edge of the dial, by number 9, which is partly covered by the bezel.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
