Gents 9ct gold Smiths Astral wrist watch, 1961.

The watch has a 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely.

The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs, so although a man’s watch, it would suit a slimmer wrist.

The case is 9ct gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London 1961 with a maker’s mark for Smiths Clocks & Watches. The case is in good condition, just a very slight indentation to the back but nothing serious at all. Unusually there is no inscription to the back of the watch, so many were given as long service awards so it makes a nice change to see one with a plain back.

The signed dial is in its original textured bark-type finish with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The lens is in lovely condition.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
