Antique Omega niello cased pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Omega name and the serial number 5,468,606 dates it back to around 1920.

The watch measures 42mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so it is smaller than a standard 50mm pocket watch.

The case is niello ware. Niello is a black mixture, usually of sulphur, copper, silver, and lead, used as an inlay on engraved or etched metal, usually silver. It is added as a powder or paste, then fired until it melts or at least softens, and flows or is pushed into the engraved lines in the metal.

The case has Continental silver marks. It is in good condition, just a small patch of loss to the niello detail by the hinge, on the back of the watch.

The glass lens is in good condition, just a small 2mm nibble on the bevelled edge.

The signed dial is in lovely condition and, as well as the black Roman numerals, it has the 24 hour numbers picked out in red.

The watch comes in an antique presentation box.
