This antique has been viewed 8 times in the past month with the most views from France.

Gents 1940s Smiths wrist watch.
The watch has a 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely.
Smiths started producing wrist watches for civilians in 1947 with the first examples having serial numbers to the movements but no letter prefixes. By 1948, prefix letters were introduced starting with 'A' but within the year a ‘B’ and finally a ‘C’, such as the example we have here.
The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case has a chrome plated bezel, an alloy centre and a stainless steel back, a combination in the latter half of the 1940. The front and sides of the case are in good condition, while the back has some unevenness.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish and is stamped Made in England at the base.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
Please contact us for international shipping prices.
Please note that regrettably we no longer ship to Europe.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
