Historical 1930s Silver Doxa Pocket Watch

Historical 1930s silver Doxa pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, signed Doxa, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged dust cover which is engraved with details of the movement and trade milestones, “Medaille D’Or Milan, 1906”, “Hors Concours Liege 1905”, “Membre du Jury, Paris 1925”.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is hallmarked for 800 silver.

The back of the watch has a cast image of Hermann Bauermeister of Altona.

Emil Ludwig Hermann Bauermeister started his grain mill business in 1882 in Hamburg in. By 1900 the company was specialising in machines and systems for processing cocoa beans and chocolate. Sadly the factory was destroyed during the second World War, but the company rebuilt and took it as an opportunity to expand the business. The company still exists today as part of a larger trade group, and their headquarters have moved to Norderstedt.

The main face of the glass lens is in good condition. There is a little nibbling around the edge.

The signed dial has handsome hour and minute hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers with 24 hour marker. There are hairline cracks to the dial.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
