Gents 1950s Lip Wrist Watch

Gents 1950s Lip wrist watch.

The watch has a French 18-jewel hand-winding movement, signed Lip, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner cover which is signed Lip, France and it also has the words, “Don’t touch me, take me to your watchmaker”.

The watch measures 36mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs so a good wearable size, especially for a 1950s watch as they can be on the small side. The case is gold plated with the thicker 40 microns of plate. There is a little wear in places but overall, it is in good condition for a 1950s piece. The case back is stainless steel.

The lens is good condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, seconds sweep and outer minute markers. As well as being signed with the name Lip, it also has the word Parechoc, this relates to the movement’s shockproofing system.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
