Description:
This is a superb quality antique English Victorian flame mahogany serpentine chest of drawers, with generous proportions, circa 1860, in excellent original condition. The chest has been traditionally French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop. The chest boasts a well-defined serpentine front, with a bank of four graduated drawers and foliate carved, fluted quarter columns. The drawers feature cross banded fronts and boast their original turned ebony knobs, finished with mother-of-pearl inlay. The drawers are constructed with hand dovetailed mahogany drawer linings with pastel green paper lining. The drawers also retain the original working locks and a working key. The drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The chest is raised on the original serpentine plinth. The back of the chest retains the original back boards. This item stands firm on the ground, is solid in joint and ready to use.

Condition Report:
This Victorian flame mahogany chest of drawers is in excellent original condition. Nominal old used marks to the leading edges and frame, but nothing significant, considering the age of the item. The chest has been traditionally French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop. There is a lovely rich colour and patination to the timber. The drawers boast cross banded fronts, dovetail construction, paper lining and the original working locks, with working key. They also retain their original turned ebony knobs, with mother-of-pearl inlay. The drawers close flush to the frame. The chest stands on its original serpentine plinth and retains the original backboards. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
