Small Silver Waltham Royal Hunter Pocket Watch

Good quality small Waltham Royal silver hunter pocket watch, 1886.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, Royal grade, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number, 3,045,603, dates it back to around 1886. The movement is all protected by an inner hinged cover which has some gentle unevenness.

The watch measures 40mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so smaller than a standard 50mm diameter watch. The case is silver and is hallmarked for Birmingham 1888, with a maker’s mark for Alfred Bedford, Manager of Waltham UK. The cast and chased case is of superb quality, the process would have been very labour intensive and expensive. The detail is still lovely and crisp, absolutely beautiful and in super condition.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, the glass lens is in lovely condition.

The signed dial has lever set blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. There is one short hairline crack running from the subsidiary seconds dial but it is faint.

The watch comes in an antique presentation box.
