Superb Antique Oil on Canvas by Alfred Glendening

A Superb Antique oil on canvas by sought after and well regarded artist Alfred Glendening ' Costal Pastures' c.1880. Superbly painted with sheep grazing on a pasture at the coast; excellent colours and detail. Signed lower right. Sat in the original swept timber gilt frame, in immaculate original condition. Measures 28.5" wide x 21" high x 3.5" deep overall, 19.5" x 11" canvas. Alfred Glendening was one of the most popular landscape artists of his time and painted in many parts of the British Isles in particular views of the Thames, Surrey and the Southern Counties as well as the Scottish Highlands. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and the British Institute between 1865 to 1903.
