Carse Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The drawers are pine lined with original iron locks and rococco type brass swan neck handles. The chest stands on its original shaped bracket feet. The top is serpentine shaped on the sides aswell as the front and has a nice shape thumb moulding to the edge.
One of the more unusual features of this chest of drawers is that it has a fitted lift up writing top in the first long drawer which also has an oval shell inlay to the front. This is all original.
The chest is basically in very good condition, there are one or two old veneer repairs to the thin bits between the drawers but otherwise very nice.
