1950s Zenith Pocket Watch

1950s Zenith pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement 18.28.1.A which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed with the Zenith name and the low serial number tells us that the watch was assembled in the French Zenith factory in Besancon which is near to the Swiss border. This was established in 1923 and worked alongside the Swiss Zenith factory. The French arm had their own serial number system although it is estimated that numbers never reached one million. The records have been destroyed so unfortunately there is no dating system as there is with Zenith’s Swiss watches.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is stainless steel and it is in lovely condition. The inside of the case back is signed Zenith.

The acrylic lens is in lovely condition.

The signed dial is in very nice condition with feuille shaped hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
