Description:
This is a superb quality antique English Georgian Regency solid mahogany serpentine chest of drawers, with generous proportions, circa 1810, in excellent condition. The chest has been traditionally French polished by hand to a professional standard in our workshop. The chest boasts a well-defined serpentine front, above a bank of four graduated drawers and canted corners. The top drawer incorporates three useful compartments for separating clothes. The drawer fronts are decorated with fine satinwood string inlay. The drawers are constructed with hand dovetailed mahogany drawer linings, pine drawer bottoms and cock beaded detail. The drawers feature later period brass oval plate drop handles, with the original working locks and a working key. The drawers run smoothly and close flush to the frame. The chest boasts decorative ribbon shaped satinwood inlay to the canted corners, along with further decorative inlay to the plinth. The chest stands on the original well shaped original mahogany bracket feet, which is also decorated with satinwood string inlay. The back of the chest retains the original pine back boards. This item stands firm on the ground, is solid in joint and ready to use.
