ANTIQUE #SA748327

A George IV Period Mahogany Chest

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: John Hubbard Antiques

A late Georgian mahogany chest of 2+2 drawers. Classic early 19th century design with reeded edge, turned wooden knobs and handmade dovetails, original locks, all supported on splayed feet.

Size: 45.3/4'' wide (46.1/4'' at the extreme of the feet), x 21.3/8'' deep (21.3/4 at the feet) x 36'' high.

Circa 1820

Dealers note: On the face of it this is a pretty ordinary Regency chest of drawers, but a closer look reveals a few points that raise this above the norm. Solid and well figured mahogany sides with no cracks or splits, faultless top, well fitted drawers that run as they should, and despite a previous ''fashion'' change of handles, it also came with the originals so now re-fitted with its original wooden knobs. Lovely chest with no apologies.
