A William & Mary (Circa 1700) Walnut and Oak Chest of Drawers with Original Decorative Inlay

17th century
Sold by Culvertons
Description

This attractive and original Early English chest of drawers was recently offered to Culvertons as it could not be accommodated within the previous owner's new home. When constructing this chest of drawers the Late 17th Century craftsman followed tradition and made it in two sections for ease of transportation, and he supported the drawers at the sides rather than from the underneath as we do today. He chose the walnut veneer with care before applying it to the drawer fronts and decorated them simply but effectively with boxwood line.

This William & Mary period chest of drawers was restored approximately 20 years ago and since then it has had little use. Its character has been retained and the colour of the walnut is particularly appealing.

A very attractive chest ready to be used enjoyed for generations to come.

Dealers Notes

Whenever possible Culvertons undertake the carriage of items within London and the home counties. Professional, competitive and trusted couriers and shipping companies are engaged for deliveries for the remainder of our customers. Smaller items, when instructed, will be carefully parcelled and securely sent by the carrier.

We strive to accurately describe and illustrate our stock on the 'Selling Antiques' website. However, we understand that it is not always possible to judge from photographs how an item will look in the home or garden. For this reason, if notified within seven days from the date of delivery we offer a full refund (less any agreed carriage costs) once the item has been returned in the same condition as it left our premises.
