Silver Omega Pocket Watch with Rare Dial, 1938

Unusual silver Omega pocket watch, 1938.

The watch has a 15-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Omega name and the serial number 8,841,615 dates it back to around 1938. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has details of exhibition medals won in Bienne and Geneva.

The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is 800 silver and there are Continental marks inside both of the case backs. As well as being silver, there is a rose gold wash around the outer edge of the hinged case back and also around the bezel... as it is a wash there is some rubbing in places. This style of case is known as galonne, it was very popular in the Scandinavian countries in the early 1900s.

Overall the condition of the case is good, just minor marking and a little unevenness to the case back. There is an old repair to the hinge but it is all nice and stable.

The acrylic lens is in lovely condition.

Unusually the dial is a dark midnight blue, almost black, and it is in beautiful condition (there is some reflection showing in the photos). White Breguet style numerals, handsome ornate hands and outer 24 hour track.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
