Antique Italian Neoclassical Commode in the Manner of Maggiolini

An exceptional and rarely on the market, north Italian straight fronted walnut veneered chest of drawers in the manner of Giuseppe Maggiolini.

Inlaid with scrolling acanthus, classical figures, foliage and antique motifs within bands of pastiglia.

Quartered veneered top, sides and front.

The top centred by a round medallion and the sides by oval medallions depicting classical figures, flowers, swags and scrolling acanthus leaves

Four square tapering legs supporting three long drawers: the top drawer is thinner and treated as a frieze; the deeper drawers are treated senza traversa (without disruption) with a simulated panel centred by a further medallion.

The internal drawers are also very well finished in red damask fabric.
