Description:
This is a fine quality small antique English Georgian chest of drawers, constructed of solid mahogany, with a brushing slide, circa 1790 and later, in excellent condition. The chest has been reduced in size at some point in the past, probably to make it fit into a particular space in a house. The chest comprises a straight mahogany top, above a brushing slide and bank of four graduated drawers. The solid mahogany brushing retains its original pierced drop handles, while the drawers also boast their original brass swan neck handles and shaped escutcheons. The drawers are oak lined, constructed with hand dovetail joints and finished with cock beaded fronts. They also retain their original working locks, with working key. The bottom section terminates on a simple moulded apron, terminating on its original bracket feet. The chest retains its original backboards. Having small proportions, this chest is easily transportable upstairs and is ideal for a landing or a smaller bedroom, where a larger chest would take up too much space. This item is solid in joint and ready to use.

Dimensions:
External Height = 73.7cm or 29” or 2ft 5”
Width = 72.6cm or 28?” or 2ft 4?”
Depth = 43.8cm or 17¼” or 1ft 5¼”
Condition Report:
This Georgian mahogany chest of drawers is in excellent condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, frame, sides and drawer bottoms, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chest has been reduced in size at some point in the past, probably to make it fit into a particular space in a house. The chest has been traditionally French polished by hand in our workshop, to a professional standard, therefore, the finish, colour and patination is excellent. The oak lined drawers are constructed with quality hand dovetail joints, around a cock-beaded drawer frame. The drawer fronts retain their original brass swan neck handles and shaped escutcheons. The drawers close flush to the frame and retain their original working locks (with key). The brushing slide is also in good condition, retaining its original brass pierced drop handles. The chest stands on its original bracket feet and incorporates the original backboards. The chest is well constructed, solid in joint, does not wobble and is ready to be used.
