Antique silver Rotherhams pocket watch.

The watch has a stem winding movement by the Coventry maker Rotherhams which is working nicely. The movement is signed Page Keen & Page, Watchmakers to the Admiralty. The watch would have been made by Rotherhams for Page Keen & Page to sell under their own name.

Page Keen & Page were listed as goldsmiths, silver smiths, jewellers and watchmakers with premises at George Street in Plymouth until the second World War and thereafter at Mutley Plain. The company was well regarded and in fact provided gold or silver keys for many of the ofifcial opening ceremonies in the town, together with formal gifts for dignitaries.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver but the hallmarks are very faint and illegible, however we can see the mark that Rotherhams always added to their silver watches. The front of the case is in good condition while the case back has some unevenness.

The watch glass is in lovely condition, just a slight nibble to the bevelled edge.

The dial is signed with the name of the retailer, Page Keen & Page. It is in lovely condition with original pin-set blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
