The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1870s.
The watch has a stem-winding lever set movement, Leader grade, which is working well. The movement is signed Elgin Nat'l Watch Co. Leader and has the serial number 507793 which dates it back to around 1877.

The watch measures 53.5mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and has Birmingham hallmarks inside the case back for 1879. The case has rose gold hinges and is in nice condition with only minor marking from use. The central cartouche on the back has monogrammed initials.

The watch glass has the odd minor mark from use.
The signed enamel dial has some very faint hairline cracks although not noticeable to the naked eye.
The watch has its original blued steel hands.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
